Flowers that are pressed need to be disassembled before they are put into a flower press. Once they are dry the flowers are color corrected and then reassembled in a flat frame that would hang on your wall.
Resin preservation is a 3D display that looks as close as possible to your original bouquet! Flowers that are preserved in resin are dried in silica gel which keeps the flowers in their original state. Meaning the flowers are the same size, shape and color as they started. Then they are encased into clear resin. This is a 3D display which protects your flowers forever.
After I have received your flowers, I will have them back to you in 1-2 months. However, this timeline can be shortened/extended by Buds Blooms and Blossoms at any time. This process has many detailed steps that can not be rushed. But, please know that I will have your piece(s) back to you as soon as I can!
Within 24-48 hours after your event is best! The fresher your flowers are, the better they will look when they are dry! Plan ahead! Ask someone you trust to be in charge of getting your flowers to me safely. If you are local to the Cache Valley area, please drop your flowers off within 24 hours of the event. Otherwise, you will need to overnight ship your flowers.
It’s very important to keep the flowers away from extreme heat, or extreme cold. Keep the flower stems in water when possible. Flower petals can bruise easily so avoid touching the petales or tossing the bouquet. Ask your florist for a separate bouquet for tossing.
Absolutely! Flower drop off and pick up are always welcome. I am also willing to pick up your bouquet after your wedding reception in the Cache Valley area for an extra $30.
Yes! If you are not local to Cache Valley Utah, you can get your flowers to me through the mail. 24 hours after your event is ideal. There are several ways to send me your flowers, but the most common way is to mail me your whole bouquet. If you want more suggestions of shipping methods click "here"
How To Pack Your Flowers:
1. Keep your bouquet in water until you get ready to ship (**Please ship your flowers the next business day after your event).
2. Take a wet paper towel or rag and wrap it around the stems, place the stems in a plastic bag to keep the paper towels moist, and secure it all with a rubber band - this will keep your flowers hydrated during their journey.
3. DO NOT wrap flower heads in plastic - keep the top of the bouquet open so the flowers can breathe.
4. Make a nest for your flowers in the bottom of the box with crumpled newspaper, or brown packing paper. Make sure the box you choose is just taller than the bouquet, So your flowers don't get bruised.
Note: If you are sending your flowers in the heat of the summer please add a frozen ice pack secured to the bottom of the box with duct tape, to keep the flowers cool.
5. Now, place your flowers in that nest. Make sure you have filled the sides of the box with enough packing material to ensure the bouquet doesn’t bump around in the box, causing damage.
6. Please include a note for me in your package with your name and number, include any photos, mementos, or additional items you want included in your preservation.
7. Finally, close the box and seal it with your packing tape.
Please add notes that say "This End Up" "Handle With Care" "Fresh Flowers" all over the box, so that your flowers will have the best chance of getting here safely.
How To Ship Your Flowers:
Overnight ship your bouquet for best results.
I recommend using the US Post Office as they tend to be the most cost effective for sending flowers in the mail. Sending a bouquet overnight should be anywhere from $30-150 per shipment depending on the weight of your package. Feel free to check around to get the most cost effective way to send me your flowers.
check out the "shipping" session to watch a video on how to do this.
8. After booking I’ll send you my address.
Note: If your wedding is on a Saturday, you’ll want to keep the flowers in water and get them in the mail first thing Monday morning. They will need to be shipped via overnight shipping so that I can dry them before they start wilting/browning. I understand that this shipping is not cheap, but you will not regret the investment of having your flowers preserved. Buds Blooms and Blossoms does not cover the price of shipping.
After your resin piece(s) are completed I can mail your finished treasured memories for the cost of shipping.
It depends on how many resin pieces you order! If you are ordering many pieces I recommend sending your bouquet and any extra bridesmaid bouquets, centerpieces, decorative flowers etc. If you are just ordering one block, just your bouquet will be plenty! Let me know if you have more questions about this.
No! I will dry your flowers for you in silica gel to hold the shape and color of the flowers. I do this for you so there is no need to do it yourself unless there is a problem getting them to me fresh! If you choose to dry the flowers yourself, Buds Blooms and Blossoms is not responsible for improper drying. This can include browning, wilting, burning, molding, etc.
Buds Blooms and Blossoms is not responsible for any damages caused during shipping from the customer to the address of Buds Blooms and Blossoms. If flowers are damaged during the shipping process the responsibility falls on the shipping company. We always suggest purchasing shipping insurance. If your flowers are damaged in shipping, I can work with you to replace your flowers at wholesale price.
Absolutely! I would love to preserve these special flowers in resin for you. Please keep in mind that air dried flowers do not look the same as silica dried flowers, and at this time I do not color correct air dried flowers. As long as you like the way that your flowers currently look, I can work with them. Preserving your air-dried bouquet in resin protects your brittle blooms from getting damaged. It also protects them from dust, mold, and bugs.
Yes, of course! If you have a necklace, ribbon, photo, pendant etc. from your wedding that you would like us to include in your piece(s) please let us know! Most of these items are easy to include!
If you do not have the flowers from your event anymore but would like a preservation piece made, I can recreate your bouquet! I am also a florist, so I can get similar flowers for you. You will just need to cover the price of the flowers (wholesale price) and send me photos of your bouquet. Some flowers may be difficult or impossible to replace due to the season, but I will do my best.
Absolutely. I grieve with you as you experience the heartbreak of losing someone that you love. I think that memorial pieces are very special. Send Bud Blooms and Blossoms flowers from the funeral arrangements and I will make you pieces that will always remind you of that special person. Reach out to me as soon as possible and I will send over a proposal contract and get everything in order for your piece(s).
Yes! I can put artificial flowers in resin! They look amazing encased in resin. The resin will keep your silk flower safe from dust, mold and damage.
Yes, I can mix artificial flowers with real flowers if you prefer. Just know that artificial flowers look different in resin than real flowers.
When choosing flowers for your bouquet, keep in mind that color shows up beautifully in resin. So add some color! Some flowers look almost identical dry as they do fresh, and some flowers change color. It really depends on the exact type of flower. Some flowers will lighten and some will darken. For example, red roses turn a dark burgundy. Yellow, orange and lavender stay close to the same color. White flowers often turn cream or off white in color.
Your wedding flowers may also get bruises or “love spots” that will not show until they are in resin. There is no way to “fix” these spots but they can be prevented by handling your bouquet carefully on your wedding day and avoiding tossing the bouquet. However, I think these love spots show the flowers’ character!
Yes, I will stay in touch with you throughout the whole process. I will send you a design idea for each of your blocks! You can tell me if you’d like any changes made, but please remember your flowers are fragile and I can’t move them too many times without damage.
I don’t do layouts for small pieces such as ring holders.
No! Some flowers are too large for certain pieces. For example, a full size rose will NOT fit in a ring holder. However, smaller (spray) roses often fit in a ring holder! If you order coasters, ornaments, or jewelry dishes, we will need to use small/flat flowers. King Proteas often need to be cut in half in order to fit in a block because they are too thick. Please reach out if you have any questions about flower sizing!
Yes! I love to make jewelry, and I think everyone should get a piece of jewelry made from their flowers! I offer several different options for jewelry including different sizes of necklaces and earrings! I also offer keychains now, and I’m always adding new sizes all the time!
